Television advertising is the sending of promotional messages or media content to one or more potential program viewers.

This figure shows that television advertising revenue in the United States has increased from approximately $49 billion in 1998 to almost $68 billion in 2005. This chart shows that the portion of advertising spent on television as compared to other media has remained approximately 25% of total advertising expenditures.
